Our Love Story

We believe man's chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.  One of the deepest ways, we glorify our Maker is through our marriage.  I realize just how valuable our marriage is when I look at it in terms of the gospel being played out in our lives.  Marriage is just a physical picture declaring an enormous spiritual truth.  I am in covenant with my Creator through a deep, meaningful relationship with His Son, Jesus.  This consideration has transformed our marriage.  It is a picture of me embracing my Savior, Christ Jesus, with every embrace of my husband, his authority and his love.  I love how John Piper puts it, "Do I feel loved by God because He makes much of me or because He frees and empowers me to enjoy making much of Him?".  These are truths we live by.  All else pales in relation to them.

"When the unthinkable happens...

Saturday, July 8, 2017, my husband and I went out for a date night.  We had really been going through a difficult journey with our then 13 year old daughter.  Up until then, that journey was one of the hardest things we faced together as parents and as husband and wife.  Little did I know that when we decided to go on a date night and take the motorcycle, that one decision would forever altar our existence.  We headed out from our home in Chappell Hill, with the mindset of taking a breather from this horrific season of turmoil in our home and really wanting to focus on our marriage and bridging the gap that had come between us as our priorities had been shuffled for months.  We said a prayer as we usually did anytime we got on the road on the bike or in the car.  We made it to our destination and on our way home my very next memory was waking up in the emergency room at Memorial Hermann in the Med Center with windshield glass all in my hair.  We had been hit head on at 80 mph on highway 290 by two drunk drivers which involved 5 cars total.  The SUV had ran over me.  My injuries were as follows:  broke my left hip and femur which they fixed with a metal rod stuck down in the bone marrow, severe cut behind my left knee that almost became an amputation of my leg, broken sternum, broke my back in 3 places, broke my left arm which they fixed with a metal rod, broke nearly all my ribs on my left side and 3 on my right side, 3 bad lacerations in my head that required staples.  My recovery would not be easy.  My husbands injuries included a broken neck, collapsed lung, flailed chest, broken ribs, broken scapula, broken collar bone, broken left arm, kidney failure, life support, coma for approximately 6 weeks, his recovery was harder than mine.  The really crazy part?  Neither one of us was wearing a helmet or motorcycle gear.  We were the modern day Lazarus.  It was apparent that our surviving such an accident was supernatural.  But why?  Why did God see fit to spare our lives? Five months later and we are still not fully recovered.  We are going through physical therapy.  We have made great progress.  My husband will soon be returning to work and I have pressed on with my studies and business.  I owe all of my recovery to the Lord and His amazing essential oils.  From my husbands wound care to pain management to easing the mind from post traumatic stress, these essential oils have been nothing short of miraculous.
