To Our Emotional Health

Each person is born with their own special emotional terrain.  What makes up this terrain?  Our God-given temperament we are born with as well as how we respond emotionally to outside stimuli.  Our terrain is as unique as our fingerprint.  In a world where "one pill fits all", it is imperative that we consider our own individual emotional terrain and take the holistic approach of body, mind and spirit in nourishing it.  Here are just a few ways we can support our emotional side.

Clearing brain fog
As we age, there are many factors that contribute to occasional brain fog.  We become easily distracted, unable to concentrate, like the "legs" of our brain are wading through murky waters.  Try this "Direct Palm Inhalation" of one of my favorite essential oils.

Apply 2-3 drops of Rosemary essential oil ct. cineole in the palm of your hand.  Rub palms together and move towards nose holding palms open.  Take a few deep inhalations.  *Be sure to wash hands once you are complete, just in case!  You don't want to get the essential oil in your eyes.
Forgiveness
Oh the amazing benefits of Forgiveness. Look how tall and strong he stands! Sometimes we forget to nourish and care for our emotional terrain. Oils like this help me to be intentional about that part of me. According to Dr. Candace Pert, PhD, (1946-2013) who was an American neuroscientist and pharmacologist who discovered the opiate receptor, the cellular binding site for endorphins in the brain, our peptides (chains of amino acids) are actually the biochemistry of our emotions. I am impressed with Young Living’s emotional line of oils. Does it sound like Voo-Doo science to some? Probably. But I have seen how they have helped transform my emotions into something I can manage each day. So many of us are walking around with all sorts of emotional baggage, never bothering to unpack any of it, let alone walk through it. But I promise there is freedom on the other side of things if we choose to go get it. This is where oils like Forgiveness come in. I try and get quite and take a prayerful posture and see if there is any thing I am holding against anyone for any reason (past or present). If someone/something comes to mind, I open the little bottle and say a prayer or affirmation out loud so that my ears hear my intent as I declare my forgiveness towards them, or my need to forgive that person, (if I’m not actually ready to forgive: baby steps). I close my eyes and take a whiff. My olfactory receptors change from day to day in response to this oil. Some days I love it, some days it’s meh. That’s when I probably need to go deeper and find out why. It’s funny how the longer we use these oils, the more intuitive our bodies become to knowing what we need and when we need it. I can speak from experience that unforgiveness is one of the fastest disrupters of joy and peace in our hearts. If we harbor it over time, it actually changes the biochemistry of our brains negatively. Through prayer and diligence, doing this over time has helped me to own and take care of my emotional side. Without oils like these to remind us to do so, much of us would stuff or neglect them. I encourage you, if you haven’t already, to experiment with these emotional oils.
